understanding the purpose of diegetic and non diegetic sound

Diegetic sound is noises and sound effects that are not edited into the film such as during post-production. Scores for a film and overdubs of sound effects are non-diegetic. These are sounds the the characters in the film are able to hear and interact with.
My example of this is the Ride of the valkyries scene from Francis Ford Coppalas masterpiece Apocalypse now YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzkBNmHALEw -  This is used in the film as an attack by Kilgore and his men (some of the main characters) are traveling to dolong in Vietnam to attack a village for safe passage for our characters to make it through safely to there next destination of the story and adventure. The most is very cinematic and epic and it is fit with americans who are perceived as the saviors and heroes but are attacking an innocent village and in sighting violence and terror on them. The audience is shot into this battle ground of not knowing who is the nemesis and who is the hero as both sides are equally as violent with the larger than life music keeping you as host to the madness in the scene and even the rest of the film.

My second example is from the Coen brothers black comedy movie The Big Lebowski.  YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lribEONhqSI - In this scene of the movie the plot of the film is not the focus for the scene it is on the a character called Jesus played by John Totroro who is shot in slow motion playing bowling and being the focus for the scene with sexualized imagery of him licking a bowling ball and then the song which is a Spanish version of the eagles hit song Hotel California the song is not very recognizable until the flow of the lyrics come in this is a great choice of song as Jesus is a foreign character in the scene and a great introduction to his character the song then fades into being played in the background of the scene (the bowling alley).
Non diegetic is music or sound effects that the characters cannot hear and that are added in post production of the movie to add dramatic effect and emphasize a scene.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSHXpNPZXCM - For my Non Diegetic scene I am choosing the scene from 28 Days Later where the main character Jim wakes up from a coma and walks around the empty desolate streets of London. This is a great choice as the song is east hastings by the instrumental epic post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor. The song in general is from a very post apocalyptic album so it fits the movie very well as well as the band being very political and the movie has many political undertones of war and violence . The scene of the movie is very quite with lonely guitars and then a drumbeat then escalating into a loud jam of rock music as Jim realizes that he is alone and the music becomes more choice and noisy as he becomes more confused and paranoid about the streets and what has happened. It is chaotic at the same time as being very suspenseful. The scene also has a jump-scare from a car alarm which adds to the paranoia of the scene. The song itself is very edited in the film.

My second choice is the song Layla Derek and the dominos in the film goodfellas. In a movie full of quotes and amazing musical moments this scene is very
